Winter 2025 Collection
In progress
Date
December 2024
This collection is a snapshot of a reimagined world, blending the opulence of 1920s and 1980s Art Deco with African American history. Art Deco, with its luxury and glamour, represents a lost era of opulence—an aesthetic that speaks to reconnecting with family legacies and ancestral roots. Adorning oneself in relics and antiques is a way of preserving and honoring the past, as objects tied to memory—like a grandmother's floral walls or the plastic on a sofa—remain as silent tapestries of understanding. These everyday relics form the foundation of who we are, from the kitchen to the living room, from the body to the spirit. Holy relics past.
By re-examining these shared experiences, this collection breaks down nostalgia to better understand the ties between our ancestors’ lives and our relationship to the body, shape, and style. Women of both the 1920s and 1980s mastered the art of balancing tradition with modernity, finding freedom in their clothing while tethering it to their cultural and historical contexts. This collection celebrates the freedom and complexity of women’s fashion in these transformative eras, offering a visual dialogue between the past and present while honoring the fluidity of identity, memory, and self-expression.
